曼晚表示，如果尤文未能就签约桑乔与曼联取得进展，那么有消息称桑乔会和斯特林互换东家，曼联希望出售桑乔，而斯特林在切尔西失去了位置，他远离一线队进行训练，对于转会曼联持开放态度。
桑乔周薪约25万英镑，在曼联未能获得欧冠资格后，这一数字有所减少，斯特林在切尔西的周薪为32.5万英镑，考虑到PSR规则，这将使得曼联的处境更糟。曼联只想进行有利于PSR规则的交易，而且他们左右两个边路各有两位边锋，B费和芒特也能踢右路。
