报道称，弗格森将不会观战本场比赛，原因是他有其他的安排。现年82岁的弗格森本赛季多次现场支持曼联，上一轮曼联客战维拉的比赛，弗格森也在看台上观战。
此前据TA报道，曼联的新股东英力士公司继续削减球队运营成本，已经中止了弗格森的曼联全球大使合同，不再向弗格森发放每年超过200万英镑的薪水。据《每日邮报》透露，弗格森将继续担任非执行董事，并保留他在主场比赛中的董事包厢和可容纳八人的餐桌。
